The 61st edition of the Niagara Grape & Wine Festival will have a slew of new improvements and feature a Canadian band taking the international stage by storm.
Organizers unveiled the line-up for the 2012 harvest celebration Friday. Executive director Kimberly Hundertmark said the focus this year is on providing a strong closing night, and Canadian rock sensations Walk Off The Earth have been signed to do just that, she said.
“We’re really excited to have Walk Off The Earth,” she said. “They are the newest Canadian phenomenon. They’ve appeared on Ellen, they’re doing an international tour right now. They’re a very cool, hip young band from Burlington.”
The group’s innovative YouTube video of their cover of “Somebody That I Used To Know” went viral last year and landed them a spot on the popular day-time talk show. They will play the festival on Sunday, Sept. 30.
